Lethal injection issues were featured on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. The segment focused on a company operating out of Connecticut which had supplied drugs for executions, allegedly in violation of federal laws.
A number of the executions carried out were botched, and follow up media coverage has indicated that several congressional offices are investigating the matter. This information, including the risks to patient health of breaches of the drug safety laws, is being examined as part of the ongoing review by the Department of Justice into death penalty practises.
